Haywood County encourages everyone to have a weather alert radio in their emergency kit.

Basic weather radios cost $35- $50. Upgraded “emergency” style radios, which offer multiple power sources such as a solar panel and hand crank, cost around $70, but are well worth the extra expense because they do not need batteries or electricity to work.
